"Once he stopped at a farmhouse well for a cup of water, and all the dogs barked affrightedly at the inconspicuous Zoogs that crept through the grass behind. At another house, where people were stirring, he asked questions about the gods, and whether they danced often upon Lerion; but the farmer and his wife would only make the Elder Sign and tell him the way to Nir and Ulthar.”

— H. P. Lovecraft, The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath

The Necronomicon

Composed by Abdul Alhazred, a mad poet of Sanaá, in Yemen, who is said to have flourished during the period of the Ommiade caliphs, circa 700 A.D. He visited the ruins of Babylon and the subterranean secrets of Memphis and spent ten years alone in the great southern desert of Arabia -- the Roba el Khaliyeh or "Empty Space" of the ancients -- and "Dahna" or "Crimson" desert of the modern Arabs, which is held to be inhabited by protective evil spirits and monsters of death. Of this desert many strange and unbelievable marvels are told by those who pretend to have penetrated it. In his last years Alhazred dwelt in Damascus, where the Necronomicon (Al Azif) was written, and of his final death or disappearance (738 A.D.) many terrible and conflicting things are told. He is said by Ebn Khallikan (12th cent. biographer) to have been seized by an invisible monster in broad daylight and devoured horribly before a large number of fright-frozen witnesses. Of his madness many things are told. He claimed to have seen fabulous Irem, or City of Pillars, and to have found beneath the ruins of a certain nameless desert town the shocking annals and secrets of a race older than mankind. He was only an indifferent Moslem, worshipping unknown entities whom he called Yog-Sothoth and Cthulhu.

— H. P. Lovecraft, History of the Necronomicon

Yog Sothoth

It was an All-in-One and One-in-All of limitless being and self — not merely a thing of one Space-Time continuum, but allied to the ultimate animating essence of existence's whole unbounded sweep — the last, utter sweep which has no confines and which outreaches fancy and mathematics alike. It was perhaps that which certain secret cults of earth have whispered of as YOG-SOTHOTH, and which has been a deity under other names; that which the crustaceans of Yuggoth worship as the Beyond-One, and which the vaporous brains of the spiral nebulae know by an untranslatable Sign...

Balcony Scene

In Order to get this Film into Production, Team Gecko tried to raise £15,000 by getting 15,000 people to give £1 each, in return for receiving a minimum of a Digital Download of the film after completion.

Because the story was being funded by the community we planned to give it back to the community in it's entirety. To that end, it would have been released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license (meaning you can do what you want with it as long as you don't make a profit, do name-check those involved in the production, and do make any resulting work available under the same license arrangements) so will the final film. This means you can give it to your friends who can copy it and give you it back and it's all legal. You can also re edit it (don't like the ending? edit it to make it harder hitting or softer) and redistribute the resulting edit in the same way and it's all legal.

We failed to reach our initial target, but set about trying to move production on with what meagre resources we had. We cast several excellent actors and booked crew and filming locations, but availability problems crept in, pushing dates back, and banking transaction fees ate up the little money we had. As a result the film project has been put on indefinite hold.

Since then, we worked on rewriting the Script as a novella. It's available as an Ebook in Kindle Format from Amazon, though we hope to get it on other Bookstores as soon as possible. The text is released under the same Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license so if you buy you can share it to anyone for free, completely legally. And if you don't want to, or can't afford to buy it, you could always ask someone who has a copy to pass it on to you.
